Safe. Known. Nurtured. Encouraged to Bloom.
At Bloom Early Learning, the safety, wellbeing and best interests of every child sit at the centre of every decision we make.
For us, child safety is not a policy that sits in a folder. It is something we actively live every day. Through the people we choose, the environments we create, the systems we put in place and the way we listen to children and families.
We believe children deserve to feel safe enough to explore, confident enough to speak up and secure enough to know that the adults around them will listen.
We take the time to carefully select our educators.
Our recruitment process goes beyond qualifications and experience. We look for people who demonstrate genuine kindness, respect, emotional maturity, professional integrity and a deep understanding of their responsibility to children.
Our interview and selection process is thorough, and our induction process provides educators with extensive training in child safety, safeguarding, professional boundaries, supervision, responding to concerns and creating environments where children feel safe and heard.
We want every educator to understand that speaking up is part of keeping children safe.
Our educators are encouraged to notice, question, communicate and act when something doesn’t feel right.
Keeping children safe requires more than one measure.
At Bloom, we build multiple layers of protection into our everyday practice, including:
• Thorough recruitment and selection processes
• Comprehensive child safety and safeguarding induction
• Ongoing professional development and training
• Active supervision and thoughtful educator positioning
• Regular compliance and safety checks
• Clear policies, procedures and reporting pathways
• CCTV throughout appropriate areas of the centre
• Regular visits and oversight from the Approved Provider
• Leadership meetings and ongoing review of practice
• Strong communication between educators and leaders
• Listening to children and taking their voices seriously
• Open and respectful communication with families
We are intentional about supervision and do not rely on one person or one system to keep children safe.
Our educators are supported to work together, maintain awareness of what is happening around them and speak up whenever they identify a concern.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
We believe that children are safest when the adults around them know them well.
That means taking the time to understand each child’s individual story, their personality, interests, strengths, family, culture, communication style, routines, relationships and ways of expressing themselves.
We work closely with families because you know your child better than anyone.
We also recognise that sometimes a child may benefit from additional support.
Where appropriate, we work collaboratively with families and relevant professionals, including occupational therapists, speech pathologists and other specialists, to better understand a child’s needs and ensure the right support is in place.
Our approach is holistic.
We look at the whole child. Their physical, emotional, social, cognitive and communication development, rather than focusing on one area in isolation.
